It’s not hard to see that Cain, Adam and Eve’s son, represents the lower self in scripture. Although he comes first, many Bible scholars believe the scripture indicates he was a twin of Abel. The birth of these twins symbolizes the higher and lower aspects of man as a result consciousness leaving Paradise (Adam and Eve’s first act was to procreate after being kicked out of Eden). Cain was also a tiller of the ground. It makes sense that he is tied to the earth. The earth always represents the physical plane and lowest manifestation of consciousness. Cain, then, is naturally tied to it. [Read more…] about Cain Kills Abel and is Banished to Nod

A Better World
I was touched recently. Deeply. It started off like a routine Saturday morning. I slept in a bit while my wife cooked breakfast for us and the kids (thanks Jess for always offering to do this!). As she finished setting the table, I came in, said good morning to her and the little ones, ate, and then went on my screened deck to read a short book I recently received in the mail. The book is entitled, A World We Can Live In, by Lynne Williamson. Lynne is a regular reader of this blog, and I was excited to see the contents of her work.
Fall seemed to be in full swing. [Read more…] about A Better World
Joseph Atwill Claims Solid Evidence that Jesus was Fabricated by Roman Aristocrats
Last night a friend sent me a link to an article entitled, Self-Professed ‘Bible Scholar’ Makes Explosive Allegation About Jesus That He Believes Could Rock the Christian Faith to Its Core. The article appeared on Yahoo News.
Mr. Atwill, the self-professed scholar in question, believes that Roman aristocrats fabricated the story of Jesus to control the masses.
Every so often, another scholar makes similar claims. I can already tell you that they always amount to nothing. I do not say this because I am a fundamentalist Christian, nor [Read more…] about Joseph Atwill Claims Solid Evidence that Jesus was Fabricated by Roman Aristocrats
Wars, Rumors of Wars, Famines, and Earthquakes in Divers Places
Have you ever wondered what the end of the world might be like? Jesus’ disciples did. They asked Jesus about it at the Mount of Olives:
“…what shall be the sign of thy coming, and the end of the world?” (Matt. 24:3)
To millions around the globe, Jesus’ response tells them that it will be a terrible apocalyptic scenario [Read more…] about Wars, Rumors of Wars, Famines, and Earthquakes in Divers Places
Author Interview with Daniel Friedmann: The Broken Gift
I am always looking for information to expand my reader’s knowledge base of esoteric studies and how it relates to the Bible. That’s one reason I was pleasantly surprised when I was asked to be a part of Daniel Friedmann’s virtual book tour for his newest book, The Broken Gift. In his first book, The Genesis Code, Daniel incorporates Kabbalistic teaching to determine the age of the earth and universe. This got my attention, because I was already aware that Kabbalistic teachings on the age of the earth and the universe are in somewhat agreement with science. The Broken Gift tackles a new subject, the origins of man. I decided to secure an author interview which you can read below. But first you’ll find an excerpt which explains the contents of the book from The YP Publishing: [Read more…] about Author Interview with Daniel Friedmann: The Broken Gift
Eve and the Serpent
Rabbi David Cooper, a world-renowned mystical teacher and author of God is a Verb, presents fascinating interpretations of the Biblical account of Eve and the serpent. Although his insight comes from obscure mystical writings, he has a gift of presenting them well to the general public. You don’t have to be a rabbi or an expert in Kabbalah to understand his teachings. Today I want to explore his teaching on the relationship between Eve and the serpent, and how it relates to consciousness.
Before we jump into one of his interpretations, it is important to realize [Read more…] about Eve and the Serpent
Noah Gets Drunk!?
Like me, maybe you’ve wondered why the “righteous” Noah gets drunk after the flood. Genesis 9:20-21 states:
“And Noah began to be a husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.”
Hmm…a naked, drunk Noah? Resembles more of the morning-after scene from a frat party rather than a righteous servant. And doesn’t this seem a little less than “righteous?” St. Paul tells us not to even keep company with a drunkard (1 Cor. 5:11), but Noah plants a vineyard and makes wine as soon as he steps off the ark [Read more…] about Noah Gets Drunk!?
The Esoteric Meaning of the Ark of Noah and the Bigger Picture of the Flood Myth
It’s been claimed that there are some amazing connections between Biblical stories and ancient Chinese writing. For example, many Christian websites proclaim that around seven hundred years before the Hebrew of the Old Testament was in use, an individual Chinese character that means “boat” seems to reveal the story of Noah and the Great Flood. Some Christians go so far as to argue that it proves the world-wide flood in Genesis literally happened. The argument is based on the following: [Read more…] about The Esoteric Meaning of the Ark of Noah and the Bigger Picture of the Flood Myth
Proverbs 23:7 and Our Emotions
Have you ever wondered how to purge yourself of a particular negative emotion that keeps repeating itself in your life? It’s not as hard as it may seem. If you are currently experiencing negative emotions in your life, this post may be particularly beneficial to you.
The first thing that you need to realize is that you are not your emotions. This may seem obvious when you think about it, but most of the time we take this for granted. [Read more…] about Proverbs 23:7 and Our Emotions
The Greater Meaning of Biblical Adultery
Have you ever wondered if there is a greater meaning of adultery in the Bible than what the church preaches? What if I told you it isn’t what you think it is?
The Word Web dictionary states adultery as meaning:
Extramarital sex that willfully and maliciously interferes with marriage relations. [Read more…] about The Greater Meaning of Biblical Adultery
Honoring the Feminine
Words by the Apostle Paul have been used in the New Testament to justify some real monstrosities by men. For example, Ephesians 5:24 is often used to make women, especially wives, to be a sort of doormat that stifles the creativity and beauty of an awesome part of creation—the feminine aspect of duality. That scripture states:
“Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.”
At first glance, this scripture seems to be literally preaching that women should be subject to their husbands in everything! [Read more…] about Honoring the Feminine
Stage 3 of Meditation: Contemplation
In our last post we discussed meditation. We learned it was the stage which directly succeeds concentration. Unlike focused attention, i.e. concentration, meditation is more of an active attention in which the mind rests on one thought until active thought disappears. It seems like a contradiction: the mind is active and attentive, but also at rest with an object. In this sense it can be considered a state of “no thought” because activities of the lower consciousness are beginning to be repressed. [Read more…] about Stage 3 of Meditation: Contemplation
Stage 2 of Going Within: Meditation Beyond Concentration
In our last post we discussed the benefits of concentration. This is the first stage of true meditation and in the development of the Christ within. Without the power of concentration, the mind is at the whims of the senses and external stimuli. Such a mind keeps the Christ within from ever being able to shine through the waking conscious. But once a person develops the power to concentrate on a single thought without wavering [Read more…] about Stage 2 of Going Within: Meditation Beyond Concentration
Concentration: The Prerequisite of Meditation
Over a month ago I wrote an article entitled, Pray Without Ceasing. The title of my post was a quote from the Apostle Paul. In that post we discussed what “praying without ceasing” really meant: a form of meditation.
Since that article I have had many readers ask me exactly how to meditate and why it works. Today’s article will begin a three-part series to break down the process of meditation and exactly how it works [Read more…] about Concentration: The Prerequisite of Meditation
The Deeper Mystery of the Virgin Birth
“Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind.”
— Albert Einstein
Einstein was a perceptive person. He knew that fundamentalists—from either the science or religious camp—can never arrive at the truth because they each see existence through the lens of their own ego. Our egos always blind us so that we only see falsity and half-truths. Have you [Read more…] about The Deeper Mystery of the Virgin Birth
