About eight months ago I wrote a post entitled, The Sistine Chapel Ceiling: The Secret in Plain Site, about Michelangelo’s esoteric message within his painting, The Creation of Adam. In that painting Michelangelo conveys the idea that God is manifested through the human brain. It appears he has hidden similar esoteric messages within multiple paintings on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Another painting which clearly portrays this same idea is called, The Separation of Light and Darkness. On this painting God is seen separating light from darkness with his outstretched hands and arms. But something is amiss: if you look closely at God’s neck, there are multiple unnatural bulges which appear completely out of place. In fact, art critics have argued about what these bulges mean for hundreds of years. [Read more…] about Separation of Light and Darkness: Another Esoteric Message from Michelangelo

The Book of Life, the Strong Angel, and the Slain Lamb
In Revelations chapter four we saw where John received an invitation to “come up hither,” or enter into higher consciousness. Revelations chapter five continues to show us how this process is accomplished. There are three important symbols we must breakdown in order to see this process: the Book of Life, the Strong Angel, and the slain lamb.
Let’s begin with Revelations 5:1:
“And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.” [Read more…] about The Book of Life, the Strong Angel, and the Slain Lamb
A Simple Kundalini Meditation
As the title to this post suggests, I am going to give you a very simple meditation for moving kundalini. This meditation is good because it increases concentration power and helps transform potent sexual energy into spiritual energy that will help strengthen the body and mind.
But first I want to discuss a bit of background information for first time readers. If this is your first visit to Spirit of the Scripture, you may be wondering why a Bible blog is using terms like kundalini and sexual energy. [Read more…] about A Simple Kundalini Meditation
The Twenty-Four Elders, the Four Beasts, and the Throne of God
Revelations chapter four opens with an important invitation in the human conscious experience. Verse one states:
“After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven…”
The opening door to heaven is a metaphor for a state of higher consciousness. Jesus made it clear in Luke that the Kingdom of Heaven was within us, and heaven can only be accessed by turning inward. That verse finishes with: [Read more…] about The Twenty-Four Elders, the Four Beasts, and the Throne of God
How God and the Breath Are Linked
Breathing and the breath in general is an important concept in esoteric practices. The question is why. Let’s start with the Bible scripture Genesis 2:7:
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.”
In the above scripture the “breath of life” is associated with “living soul.” Scientifically we know that man needs oxygen in order for our cells to function properly. Without oxygen human cells die. [Read more…] about How God and the Breath Are Linked
Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea: The Chakras of Our Upper Body Temple
In the last post we discussed the churches of Revelations that made up our lower body temple. Now we will look at the last three churches that make up our upper body temple.
Sardis
The church of Sardis relates to the throat chakra. Traditionally, this chakra has been associated with [Read more…] about Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea: The Chakras of Our Upper Body Temple
Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, and Thyatira: The Chakras of our Lower Temple
The first four chakras, and therefore the first four churches of Revelations chapter two, collectively represent the lower temples of our body. Revelations chapter three discusses the churches and chakras of our upper temple.
In this post we’ll discuss the first four chakras and how they relate to the churches of Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, and Thyatira. [Read more…] about Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, and Thyatira: The Chakras of our Lower Temple
Three and a Half Coils, Kundalini, and Revelations Chapter One
Many Christians are quick to brush off the notion that Revelations contains esoteric knowledge about the mind, body, God, and even kundalini. I understand the reservation because I was once a mainstream Christian, but the evidence is scattered throughout the book. All it takes is an open mind and a willingness to admit that mainstream Christianity might have missed something. 🙂
Before delving into chapter one, I want you to see the importance of the number 3 ½ in the rest of Revelations. It’s literally scattered everywhere and it has to do with kundalini. After reviewing a short history of this sacred number, we’ll look at each individual scripture in Revelations that contains it. Introduction to the Book of Revelations
The Book of Revelations is no end-of-the-world scenario. Jesus Christ is not coming back with a tattoo, riding a horse, and swinging a sword to declare war on the unjust and herald the end of everything. Pastors who teach and preach this are reading into things too literally or regurgitating Biblical commentaries.
It’s a little uncanny how often literal scripture reading conveys the very opposite meaning than what was intended. While most people assume Revelations is about the future, it’s really about the eternal NOW. Jesus Christ declares that he is the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, throughout this book of spiritual revelation. These phrases are indicative of the eternal NOW. Sirius Documentary Coming Soon!
I have become an affiliate for the new film documentary called Sirius being released April 22, 2013. Apparently there is quite a bit of excitement about this film as it is being mentioned on many influential websites and discussed on popular forums.
The subject of this documentary is proof of extraterrestrials and ET technology that would create the opportunity to transform our planet. I don’t really consider myself a conspiracy theorist, but I definitely believe there is life on other planets, and I also believe that that life may have advanced technology that could transform our planet. The Kabbalistic Tree of Life and the Tree in the Book of Revelations Compared
Even though a casual reading on the tree of life in Revelations might conjure up a mystical tree shrouded with magical leaves and fruit, it’s really a symbol for consciousness. We can draw this truth out by comparing certain verses from Revelations with the overall theme of the Kabbalistic tree of life.
The Kabbalistic tree of life is comprised of three pillars. All three pillars are interconnected, but it is the middle pillar that will become the most relevant to our discussion. The middle pillar of the Kabbalistic tree carries the same concept as the tree of life mentioned in Revelations: ultimately flows of consciousness. We’ll study the Kabbalistic tree of life in detail first. Then we’ll take a careful look at some scriptures from Revelations. Jesus’ Ascension Into Heaven: An Invitation To Be Your Higher Self
The ascension of Jesus represents the final deathblow to the lower egoic nature. At the consummation of his life-story, Jesus becomes the Christ as his lower nature finally merges with the higher self. The ascension of Jesus is so important because not only does it teach us about the higher self, it teaches us that the ultimate goal is to be the higher self, to become our soul. As we become our soul the lower nature is essentially absorbed by our higher nature as consciousness expands. We don’t lose our individuality, but our individuality takes on new meaning as we realize our connectedness with God and the Universe. Even though we still function as individuals, we learn how to function as a collective as well. The perk is that we more consciously experience both worlds! The focus then becomes who we truly are, not who we think we should be. [Read more…] about Jesus’ Ascension Into Heaven: An Invitation To Be Your Higher Self
The Resurrection of Jesus
Did the resurrection really happen? Was an individual named Jesus really raised from the dead over two thousand years ago? Theologians and atheists both agree that the validity of Christianity rests on this one point alone. Many atheists argue that if Christ wasn’t raised from the dead then there’s no need for Christianity or God because it’s all myth. On the other hand, since Christians believe that Christ was raised from the dead, we too can have eternal life if we believe in him. Both of these arguments are ridiculously short-sighted and they completely divert [Read more…] about The Resurrection of Jesus
The Crucifixion and the Forsaken Jesus
For theologians, the crucifixion of Jesus has been regarded as a monumental turning point in the history of mankind. Those famous words from Christ, “It is finished,” have represented the completion of God’s unmerited grace poured out for humanity through the death of his Son. This has always been the exoteric view, but what does the crucifixion mean esoterically? Is it possible that the church missed something of great importance because it failed to interpret the deeper meaning of the text? The answer of course is yes, and today we’ll uncover the highest meaning of the crucifixion. [Read more…] about The Crucifixion and the Forsaken Jesus
The Transfiguration of Jesus
This post continues our series on the esoteric Jesus. So far we’ve seen why he had to come out of Egypt and be baptized. Today’s post will study the esoteric meaning of Jesus’ transfiguration.
We’ll start with Gaskell’s definition:
Transfiguration of Jesus: A symbol of an initiation, and signifying the using or raising of the lower nature in the interest of the higher.
While the transfiguration is one of the easiest initiations to decode, perhaps it shows us more than any other the esoteric nature of Jesus and the Gospels. [Read more…] about The Transfiguration of Jesus
