The ascension of Jesus represents the final deathblow to the lower egoic nature. At the consummation of his life-story, Jesus becomes the Christ as his lower nature finally merges with the higher self. The ascension of Jesus is so important because not only does it teach us about the higher self, it teaches us that the ultimate goal is to be the higher self, to become our soul. As we become our soul the lower nature is essentially absorbed by our higher nature as consciousness expands. We don’t lose our individuality, but our individuality takes on new meaning as we realize our connectedness with God and the Universe. Even though we still function as individuals, we learn how to function as a collective as well. The perk is that we more consciously experience both worlds! The Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt is one of the more prominent stories of the Bible. Many of us have heard it a hundred times from parents, Sunday school teachers, and pastoral sermons. For me it is one of the greatest stories ever told, not because it literally happened, but because of the spiritual truth it conveys about being a sojourner on earth.
To teach that this story literally happened has been one of the greatest blunders of religion. The Book of Exodus is replete with so much revelation of the divine, but a literal view detracts from the true spiritual message. The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego is really about kundalini energy, your seven in-body chakras, and the divine mind. I think this will become clear to you by the end of this post.
The wonderful story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego was one of my Biblical childhood favorites. I was fascinated with the prospect of someone being consumed by fire but not getting hurt by it. As the story goes, these three men were casts into a blazing furnace by Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon, for refusing to fall down and worship the golden statue he had built. The heat of this fiery furnace was so intense that it even killed the king’s men who tossed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego inside. And what happened to our heroes? They walked around in the inferno unscathed. What’s more, a fourth angelic figure suddenly appears in the fire with them.
