I am currently reading the New York Times Bestseller, The Secret History of the World, by Mark Booth. In the beginning of the book, he does a great job showing how ignorant our modern scholars can be when trying to explain what the ancients really believed spiritually. For example, in one passage he states that scholars like to believe the Egyptians actually worshipped the sun as a sentient being. This is silly.
