Many Christians are quick to brush off the notion that Revelations contains esoteric knowledge about the mind, body, God, and even kundalini. I understand the reservation because I was once a mainstream Christian, but the evidence is scattered throughout the book. All it takes is an open mind and a willingness to admit that mainstream Christianity might have missed something. 🙂
Before delving into chapter one, I want you to see the importance of the number 3 ½ in the rest of Revelations. It’s literally scattered everywhere and it has to do with kundalini. After reviewing a short history of this sacred number, we’ll look at each individual scripture in Revelations that contains it.
The number 3 ½ and kundalini
3 ½ has always been associated with the concept of kundalini. Kundalini is said to be a subtle spiritual energy containing the power to expand consciousness. To be more specific, kundalini is the raw power of consciousness itself. It’s dormant in most humans, but everyone has the potential to arouse this higher consciousness. This spiritual energy is said to lie dormant in 3 ½ coils, like a sleeping 
serpent, in the sacrum bone. Even the sacrum bone itself was revered by the ancient Greeks, Egyptians, and inhabitants of far eastern lands.
In Sanskrit Kundalini means “coiled power.” Ancient Christians referred to the coiled energy or sleeping serpent as the Holy Spirit. In fact, the events at Pentecost in the book of Acts represent this rising of the energy which came to rest as forked tongues (like a snake’s tongue) of fire above the disciples’ heads. 
Remember, Moses himself had to raise the serpent in the desert to bring healing to the nation of Israel. Healing of what, we may ask? The answer is healing and the balancing of energies which form the conscious experience—i.e., healing for the mind, body, and emotions.
So what does all this have to do with Revelations? Everything!
The number 3 ½ is used repeatedly in Revelations, representing the conscious experience of man and kundalini. Let’s review the scriptures where 3 ½ is used in Revelations and then we’ll discuss a little more about how the number relates to consciousness. Our first scripture is below:
Rev. 11:2: “But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread underfoot forty and two months.”
Forty and two months comes out to 3 ½ years. Gentiles are a Biblical term representing those who haven’t developed the higher mental qualities necessary for the higher mind and the risen kundalini. In the scripture above the Gentiles tread the outer court for 3 ½ because they represent the dormant state of higher consciousness as kundalini energy remains in their sacrum. The next verse mentioning 3 ½ states:
Rev. 11:3: “And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophecy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.”
If you do the math, a thousand two hundred and threescore days comes out to 3 ½ years again. It is interesting to see how many commentaries have been written on the two witnesses of Revelations, many saying they are Elijah and Moses. Rubbish. The two witnesses are simply Divine Love and Wisdom. As Gaskell’s Dictionary and Scripture and Myth points out:
“[They] witness the process of the soul’s development in the lower nature. They appear to be killed out of the soul by desire (the beast) in its early stages of growth, but afterwards they revive and live through the power of the Spirit of Christ.”
It’s is important for us to grasp what Gaskell is getting at. The Beast in every man, our lower natures, always seems to win over the attributes of love and wisdom until the higher mental faculties have been sufficiently developed. Our next scripture is below:
Rev. 12:6: “And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.”
As you might have guessed, a thousand two hundred and threescore days is 3 ½ years. I hope you are starting to see a pattern here. What’s even more interesting is that the scripture above helps depict the process of how and why kundalini rises. The woman in the scripture above represents the higher soul birthing the Self. If you read the verses around the one above you will see that the red dragon also comes. The red dragon is symbolic of the opposing energy (lower self) which needs to be balanced in order to bring love and wisdom into manifestation through our individuality. Notice how the woman is nourished in the wilderness, the place of experience. At first it’s devoid of higher spiritual qualities, but the suffering and experiences of life help us learn to balance the negative and positive energies within us. She is fed for 3 ½ years because that number represents the dormant potential within us. She is nourished through experience in the wilderness the same way the Israelites were nourished and courted by God in the Wilderness on the way to the Promised Land. When the birth of the child comes, the Christ, that potential has then risen. Now for our next verse:
Rev. 13:5: “And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto to him to continue forty and two months.”
It goes without saying, but here we have our magic 3 ½ number again, forty and two months being 3 ½ years. The beast which gives power to the dragon above is simply our desire nature. It’s called the beast of the bottomless pit because the desire nature of man is endless, and it is always an adversary of the spirit within. All commentaries that speak of this beast as being a literal demonic figure are not seeing the obvious. If you read to the end of the chapter 13 the author of Revelations clearly states that the number of this beast is 666, the number of man. All men and women have this desire nature within them until the ego or lower nature of man is overcome.
For the next two verses showing the number 3 ½ we are going to go backwards a few chapters. I have saved these two for last because they depict an important scene that will help segue our conversation into what this number really stands for in both Revelations and Kundalini Yoga.
Rev. 11:9: “And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and a half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.”
Rev. 11:11: “And after three days and a half the spirit of life (Holy Spirit / Kundalini) from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet…”
While kundalini lies dormant in the sacrum, we are truly dead in our lower natures. The reason we are dead is because there is no true freedom of will when we are driven by our lusts and passions. But when the kundalini rises, depicted by the two witnesses rising to their feet in Rev. 11:11, divine love and wisdom enter the human vessel and consciousness expands. True freedom and freewill enter the picture because we begin to make choices based on discernment rightly dividing the word of truth in real-world experiences. Other portions of scripture speak of us needing to be born again in order to live with the renewed mind—i.e., the mind of Christ. This is true freedom!
Meaning of the number 3 ½
The 3 in our sacred number stands for the three states of consciousness experienced by all humans: waking, sleeping, and dreaming. This is the state we all live by for most of our lives. It is the unawake witnesses of love and wisdom potential within us. The ½ represents transcendent consciousness—divine love and wisdom.
3 also stands for the past, present, and future of linear consciousness while the half represents the transcendence of linear time, which also connects with Jesus’ statements on being the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last.
Revelations Chapter 1
Let’s review a few scriptures from Revelations chapter one to establish another important foundation. Christ begins speaking by introducing himself as the Alpha and Omega, beyond time and into the eternal NOW. Jesus Christ is the archetype of primordial energy lying dormant in the 3 ½ coils. He is the kundalini energy because he is the higher mind.
Important side note: Just as Lucifer was once known as the “light bearer” of higher consciousness, so is the Christ. In some traditions they were even said to be brothers, although this was never meant to be literal. In ancient times the coiled serpent and Satan was not evil. It was the process (suffering in life experience) which killed the ego and the serpent within us but simultaneously raised it!
The higher mind is the transcendence of normal consciousness. If you read the first chapter of Revelations again, you should notice that Jesus Christ invites us, through John (the higher love nature), to come and receive of him—the higher mind, Christ himself. Remember John was to write the revelation down in a book for others to tell them what he saw and witnessed. The invitation to John is followed by a roadmap on how to reach the higher mind. I quote Jesus speaking to John:
“…and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea” (Revelations 1:11).
The roadmap is through the seven churches, which represent the main in-body chakras along the serpent channel of the spinal column and into the brain.
Jesus, the higher mind, said the kingdom of God was within us. You need to know that the chakras and body of God is within you. For more information on our bodies being part of God please read Biblical Symbols, God, and Our Bodies.
At the end of Revelations chapter 1 Jesus states:
“I am he that liveth, and was dead; and behold, I am alive forever more, Amen; and have the keys of hell and death…”
The higher mind is the answer and the (key) to overcoming the death which is none other than the transcendence of ego attachment. This is accomplished through raising kundalini in the spine and enabling the higher mind, the Christ, to renew you.
I know I stated I would get to Revelations chapter 2 in this post, but I have decided to tackle chapter two and three together in the next post since both of these chapters focus on each individual main chakra. In that post we’ll discuss how each of the churches Christ mentions relates to these chakras.

Joshua, another phantastic post which I have only quickly read once yet. Later I will read it more thoroughly again but for now a few first impressions about the number 42 which I recognized.
We can already find this in the Old Testament too: there are 42 resting places for the people of Israel during the journey from the slavery in Egypt till the point of entry into the Promised Land. Each place has a name that shows a level of consciousness. I read this in a book written by someone who also based his findings on the system taught by prof. Weinreb; I did not go into it myself.
In the first chapter of the New Testament, Matthew 1:17 we find it again: ‘So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.’
Three times fourteen is fourty two. And here the name David also comes into it. David is written as 4-6-4 which equals fourteen. The number 6 is the character wav which as a word means hook. The wav is used as the word ‘and’. In David it links 4 and 4 together. David is the unifying, harmonizing, balancing, integrating principle in the material world. Therefore is Jesus, is Christ, in the Bible the son of David, because he had brought everything into balance in his life. Therefore is the Star of David a symbol of total integration, balance and harmony.
It all hangs together. And of course it all tells the same story in different words, with in the Old Testament an emphasis on the stages of the desert journey, in Matthew on the balancing and in Revelations on the rising of the kundalini.
The number 3 itself has some connotations to both Venus (love) and birthing. She is the empress in the Tarot, and the creative one in numerology. Four, on the other hand, is the emperor, which is a more masculine energy and has a Saturn/Mars thing going on. It is also less creative, more stable and interested in promoting order. Hence, 3.5 would tend to indicate a sort of birthing process that has reached fruition before one runs smack dab into the emperor.
If you use the Hebrew alphabet, then three tends to correlate with Gimmel which means kindness, and four with Dalet which means selflessness or literally “door”. If we put the two together, then abstractly we have a situation of something “nourishing into fruition” via Gimmel, or the number 3, the Empress ALMOST to Dalet—but not quite–meaning it isn’t selfless PER SE–it isn’t granted to someone else PER SE. Likewise, it isn’t “entering through the door” per se, because it is an internal process–a baby on the other hand in an actual birth proceeds ideally from loving kindness in Gimmel and moves through the door Dalet into the world of structure and form.
So, are we to say that the author of Revelations was using this apocalyptic form of storytelling to encrypt a message to his esoterically enlightened readers of his time, and others yet to come, to encourage them (us) in the their pursuits and also to verify that the release of the Kundalini power within us is a dramatic event along the path to the higher self? The 3 1/2 and the 666 make sense this way. The number 42 is also the Ultimate Answer for Everything in the Hitchhikers Guider to the Universe, in which it was calculated by a super computer named Deep Thought after 7.5 years.
Just curious. Why is 1/2 the transcendent part after 3.

The 3½ can also be found in the Old Testament. In Daniel 12 (a chapter about ‘the end of days’!), in verse 7, he mentions: .. a time, times (= double time) and a half (or half a time).
The principle 3½ can also be found in the story of Noach after the Flood. It is said that Noach lived 350 (3½ in the hundreds) years after the flood, which according to prof. Weinreb means that from then on ‘time’ was marked by the principle 3½. The name, symbol, Noach is written as 50-8, 58, which as nach stands for the verb to rest but also for to console, to comfort. As chen it is mercy, grace, also love.
The 350 is also the numerical value of:
afar dust: the dust that God created men from
oref neck: the neck forms the connection between the 1 of the head and the body with its four limbs (in the literal sense it is also a turningpoint as the head can turn in all directions), between the higher and lower nature

All of this is connected together; the meanings that do not directly apply in a given example are always there in the background to give things an extra relief as it were. When David is anointed as king Samuel takes a horn (350) and fills it with oil, shemen = shmona, 8. So the 350 when it is filled with 8 anoints David, who by that act becomes the anointed one, the masjiach = messiah (358). This however is the final phase of the serpent in the Garden of Eden which sent us on our journey because the nachash is also 358 and that number already points to it. These numbers of course both contain the 58 of nach and chen, of Noach and the mount Nebo from where Moses got to see the Promised Land because the fifty – the state of higher awareness – was already in him (bo, 2-6). In David’s case this means that the principle David, 4-6-4, the balancing, integrating principle, is anointed to rulefrom then on. He is anointed by the man called Samuel, whose name could be read as: Shemo, his name, his goal and identy, is El, God.
And of course all of this ultimately tells the same story as Revelations.
That statement Rev chapter 1, along with another story about him from the tomb I sincerely believed jesus was telling us he had that near death or death experience & survived in reality, why he didnt want to be touched for he was in the flesh, then quietly left his country to london where Mary M also went. I feel it in my dna he lived to old age.

It seems like there’s some responsibility for the spiritual elite to make this esoteric knowledge accessible to people. However it feels like this knowledge is often obscured and purposely hidden from people in order to keep them remaining in their animal like natures. Has anyone else made this observation?

This is often true, but really, the information is hidden from those who wish to remain in their animal natures. There are plenty of “rare-hard-to-come-by” books. The universe tends to only give the information to people that they are prepared to accept. If you want a literal interpretation of the Bible without metaphor, then that’s what you get.
Joe, I think we are very privileged to live in an age where so much knowledge including esoteric is available online and in bookstores and focus groups. No one is going from house to house, like Saul of Tarsus, checking for non-conforming opinions. From what I know, esoteric knowledge has two problems. First, it can get in the wrong hands and be used for evil. The Nazi’s tried to manipulate the power of esoteric teachings and spent 2 billion dollars in Tibet trying to find a way. Thank God they lost. Second, the traditionalists and those in power benefiting from everyone’s ignorance always clamp down on the esoterics. So the esoterics had to form secret societies to evade persecution and censure. To some extent, I believe the OT prophets were esoterics. It is not clear to us what they did so they could “hear from God”. Elisha probably found out by hanging around Elijah. Whatever they did, it was maded to be a little hard to find.
I think “hearing from God” is probably more a consequence of what someone is–part choice, part character, part spiritual fortitude.
Yes, I think that may be true to some extent, but less than people’s usual idea about the so called gift of prophecy or listening to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the bible. I’m of the school that tapping into intuitive guidance from a higher power is available to all of us, happens more naturally for some people, but everyone can be trained to tune in better. In fact, it is not a coincidence that a method used to train prophets in some of the popular Christian “Schools of Prophecy” are very similar to the ones used to develop extra-sensory perception and psychic abilities. The CIA once had a program to train individuals in remote viewing (seeing events without being there).
In the ancient Vedic texts of India the transmission of information is spoken of. The sacred texts were then passed from teacher to student as and when deemed appropriate by the teacher. They were learned and chanted verbatim so no chance of changing them. In the Bible Jesus says do not cast pearls before swine. If people are not ready they will not understand, the information will get distorted and watered down. When the student is ready the teachings appear.

I don’t know if you’ve mentioned it in any posts yet, but I’ve read about the term ‘Lucifer’ and rather than being like brother to Christ, they are actually one and the same. The old Gnostic approach is that they are the same exact energy within us all, motivating us differently based on our own states of consciousness and who’s will we are serving (either God’s true nature, or our own desire of the Ego/beast. Basically, Christ actually appears as Lucifer to those who are centered and attached around the Ego in order to bring the individual through the necessary tribulations and experience in order to come to realization, hopefully ultimately transforming that force from Lucifer into Christ once the lower self is conquered. Both are the Morning Star which must be raised, either way regardless, in order for us all to evolve no matter how much of a different page we may be on from each other.
So interesting…in that sense, that technically makes Christians Luciferians right? =P
Funny how many fundamentalist will point fingers at mystics and esoteric circles damning them to be “Satanic” and Luciferian, yet never consciously realizing that they are operating out of a much lower frequency than those judged, making themselves more “Satanic” by worshiping such false idols and deities that they claim to be God. That’s okay though, that Lucifer force within them ultimately will bring them through their own trials and self created hells until they awaken and ascend to birth the true Christ inside in the higher Self. We all do…that’s just how we have to get there. Through experience!
Kevin, your observations about Luciferian beliefs are very interesting. In your scheme there is not a war between the power of evil versus the power of good, but simply a progression from lower state to higher state. Your beliefs would be classified as non-dualistic. I think those who call themselves Luciferian (and who in addition do not define themselves as Satan worshippers) consider themselves at the higher level. Their Lucifer is the light bearer. Not a fallen arch angel. I think they vary in where Christ fits in the scheme of things. But the fundamentalist Christians have gotten used to using the term Lucifer as synonymous with Satan, their ultimate bad guy at odds with Christ and the church. They think all Luciferians worship Satan.

When we use our energy for negative purposes, its said that it descends down our spines and forms satan’s tail. When kundalini ascends up the spine, its Lucifer or Christ.
Interesting. I wonder if there are physical, emotional and spiritual symptoms that help us decide if we are using our energies the wrong way.
I’m sure that as long as one is observing themselves towards Self-realization, they can perceive the fruits of their own works to gauge which force is guiding them. For example, if one thinks they are working towards the higher Self in a given situation believing they are working with the Christic force, and the outcome with others or themselves happens to place them in hell-ish scenarios (beyond normal trials and tribulations which are neither good or evil) then that might be the lower state Lucifer force giving that obstacle in order for that person to climb out of the very hell they put themselves in.
Sounds confusing, but I’m sure you get the idea! Either way, it all comes down to the indivual and how they perceive things, and their progress in observing themselves.
Joshua’s right about the Satan’s tail. I believe there’s a difference between trying to work righteously with your energies with others around and failing, thus receiving a learning experience through Lucifer while operating out of the lower self, and working with your energies in a way to deliberately harm others (more often spiritually/emotionally rather than physically) ultimately being a form of fornication that ensues with the backlash of Satan’s tail. Basically, a big slap from Karma lol.

This phrase you wrote Joshua reminded me of the “lower nature” of man to resist change and learning experiences. This is in contrast to the higher self’s / soul’s desire for learning and growth.
I have seen this struggle in person with acquaintances of mine just this last week. The wife wants to do a personal development course to grow, to expand herself, and the husband is so threatened by the (imagined) changes in her that he has resorted to manipulating all the children against her taking the course. Now if both husband and wife were open to taking the course, many breakthroughs in their relationship would be possible and the marriage I feel would actually blossom rather than remain stagnant (and worse). As it is, they’ve been stuck in an uncomfortable situation and who knows how this will end.
It is amazing how these “ego vs. higher consciousness” forces are playing out all around us…

Husband may also not be prepared to develop, so status quo is his comfort zone. So he pulls down using lower energies to manipulate her to make threat and discomfort to him go away. She can pull up in subtle ways using her higher energy. Must be indirect. Not manipulative. Would help if her actions made it apparent to him that her development would also be a win situation for him. If it is not a win situation for him, why should he support it. Also if he is not ready himself for development, dragging him in will cause failure and backlash. Indian saying, “squaw and brave must understand they no longer ride on separate horses.”
I like that Robert. I know I’ve found myself to be more indirect as an example since going through my growth and with much more receptive responses compared to before, when I was still trying to manipulate others to believe what I believe, right or wrong as I may have been. Just goes to show that just because someone doesn’t appear to be ready for growth, doesn’t meant they aren’t. But those around them trying to manipulate might be the actual ones not quite ready yet due to not learning how to be less manipulative and to be more of a subtle example shining a light one can’t dare to observe and acknowledge. I wish the best of luck to all folks in that situation…I know it can be the hardest thing in the world!

But husband cannot see this at this point, even with help from a neutral 3rd party, so subtlety is the name of the game for now…And yes her actions will speak louder than words.

I just found an amazing hieroglyph bringing a new meaning to me of the 3 1/2 windings.
I sent an email to Josh with the pictures. It shows a hieroglyph that shows, imo, the Alpha and the Omega on top of each other. The Alpha turned 90 degrees to the right, it becomes an oval with two legs. The Omega representing infinity 00, but again turn 90 degrees and stacked on top of the A. That gives 3 stacked ovals and grounded with 2 legs (I am reconstructing from present symbols to ancient egyptian symbols that pre-date our systems).
Now this saying :

To bear witness (2 legs) is to show evidence (working power centers). The 3 ovals represent the three power houses. Each oval consists of three main chakras.

Oval 3 : blue purple white
One detail of the screenshot shows a figurine ( 3 ovals+legs ) and the Eye symbol draped around it (Horus ?). So this hu-man turned into a Man, dedicating its work to the Divine (my idea 🙂 .

Amazingly in later writings this ancient egyptian symbol is either turned upside down or chopped up, or both, probably (imo) to confuse (divide and conquer, on intent), or the interpreters had no idea (quite possible). Or to hide, because that present day people would only be confused, it was obscured (in hiding). Or all of above 🙂
So in my interpretation of ‘i am the alpha and the omega’ : start to make a good foundation A and top that with the three centers.
